‘You could end up £1,000s in debt’ warns car expert over ‘biggest mistake’ drivers make before buying a new motor

A CAR expert has revealed a mistake that could cost motorists thousands when buying a new set of wheels.

The self proclaimed go-to-girl for car advice has warned drivers to check one thing before they "even test drive" a new motor.

Motor master Abigayle shared the essential tip on her social media page shetalkscars - and claimed people continually make the mistake and end up paying for it weeks after their fancy new purchase.

She said: "If you're buying the car, make sure you do this.

"People are not doing this before they buy a car, and they end up having to sell it and end up thousands of pounds in debt.

"So make sure you do it."

She then revealed that anyone looking to buy a new car should "check their car insurance" costs.

The warning was posted after she noticed that people were buying their dream motors without realising that they couldn't afford to run it.

She said: "People pick a beautiful car and think 'that's my dream' but it costs them more money to ensure it than they actually paid for it."

Abigayle went on to say that no matter how much you love the car you've got your eyes on - and even if you can afford to cost - running it could be "unaffordable" for you.

She added: "It's a horrible situation."

After shouting the warning, she advised car-hunters to get quotes for the car you want to buy before you even "test drive" the car and avoid wasting "your time" or "anybody else's."

Luckily she followed up by offering a bit of help for anyone unsure if they can afford their dream motor - advising followers to use her "top money saving car insurance tips".

Some commenters were quick to thank Abigayle and quickly let her know that the useful tip worked for them, others claimed it should be an obvious thing to do, while another said they felt it was an "obvious" thing to do.

While a second user said: "You'd think that was an obvious thing to do."

"Luckily I bought it out right so I got good value."
