How Fiat 500 became world’s HAIRIEST car after woman made a bet with a pal & stuck 120kg of human locks to the motor
THIS is the world's hairiest car - yes, you read that right.
A hairstylist from Salerno, Italy, has decided to honour her profession by turning her Fiat 500 into an impressive beast complete with human locks of hair.
Maria Lucia Mugno first won the Guinness World Record in 2010, when she added a staggering 100 kilograms of hair to her ride.
And in 2014, she went on to smash her own record by adding another 20 kilograms of hair.
In an interview with Barcroft Cars, Maria revealed that the world's hairiest car was inspired by a bet with one of her friends.
“My inspiration came from a dare, a bet, whilst I was working. My friend didn’t think I was capable of making a car that was entirely covered in real hair,” Maria said.

“And when he saw my finished work of art, he was completely shocked by what I’d made.”
The hairy work of art cost the hairstylist a whopping £68,000, and 150 hours of her time, but she said it's all been worth it.
We shampoo it, we brush it, we trim it, it’s a systematic operation with the car’s hair

From dashboard to bumper, Maria's Fiat is now wholly covered in hair.
Not just any old locks of hair either.
Maria spent a fortune on sourcing hair all the way from India, explaining that Indian women tend to have stronger locks.
And she also made sure that she got hair of a variety of colours, textures, and appearances - just in case her car wasn't already going to stand out from the mere fact it was covered in hair.
The hairstylist added that the process was anything but simple, and that maintaining the car's luscious locks is a full-time job in itself.
She revealed that she spends a multiple hours tending to the mane, for fear of it getting too tangled and messy.
She also hand braided the vast majority of the locks that she attached to the body of her car.
Now, she said: "We keep it clean like we would if it was for clients or if it was a real person.
“We shampoo it, we brush it, we trim it, it’s a systematic operation with the car’s hair.
"I enjoy looking after my car.”
Maria added that her strange project is still driveable, stating that she takes her hairy Fiat out for a spin multiple times a week.

Yet, Maria's hardly the first person to have dreamt up a bizarre car modification.
From cars dressed to resemble bulls, layers of bricks added to a car's body, or cars playing magic bus dress up, many people across the globe have added sheer absurdities all around.
