It is understood they recently came to an agreement for one of the corporation’s most famous faces to take to the dance floor.

A source said: “Nick has always loved Strictly and he is so excited about appearing on the show.

“He’s got a great personality, is incredibly driven and competitive and is up for giving anything a crack.

“He’s going on the show to entertain and to win. He’ll give it his best shot.”

Nick will be competing against other celebs including fellow Beeb star, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, 30 - who won the festive edition last year - and blind comedian Chris McCausland.

Last year, dad-of-four Nick teamed up with some of the show’s pros, including Katya Jones and Luba Mushtuk, for a Strictly special of his beloved home makeover show DIY SOS.

They renovated a performing arts school together in Wallsend, North Tyneside.

Nick’s fans even predicted he would star on the under-fire BBC One dance show last year, when he posted a video showing off his moves on Instagram in March 2023.

One commented: “I see Strictly Come Dancing on the horizon.”

In 2022, Nick - set to marry for the third time after getting engaged to girlfriend Katie Dadzie, 34, last year - hinted at what it takes to win Strictly.

He chimed in when fans were discussing how CBBC star Molly Rainford, a trained dancer, had ended up in the bottom two while ex-Arsenal captain Tony Adams had breezed through in one week.

Strictly Scandal So Far

He wrote online: “Can I just point out to everyone @bbcstrictly is an entertainment show not strictly a dancing competition - otherwise those that went to drama college & learned dance would have an unfair advantage over those that never have.

“It’s the one who connects with the audience that wins.”

Nick will also appear on Netflix’s new show The Bear Hunt next year.

Strictly is set to return in September despite the ongoing probes into dancers, including Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, over their conduct towards celeb partners during their time on the show.

On Wednesday, BBC Director-General Tim Davie said of the crisis: “I’m very sorry that anyone has had an experience on Strictly that hasn’t been wholly positive.”

Reps for Nick and Strictly were approached for comment.
