Arsenal have been linked with a move for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee as they search for attacking reinforcements.
But despite the rumours, David Ornstein has claimed that the Gunners will find it difficult to get a deal over the line.
Speaking on the Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast, he said: “To do someone a deal like Zirkzee is pretty unfeasible this month, he’s attracting a lot of eyes across Europe.
“Bayern have some control over the situation due to some convoluted buyback possibility.
“I don’t think he will go to Arsenal, I think too much needs to happen and they’re planning for a quiet month at Arsenal.”
West Ham are reportedly interested in Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
According to The Times, The Hammers could make a move for the bagsman.
Gimenez has been linked to a number of clubs including West Ham’s London rivals Arsenal.
And with the Gunners' financial situation limiting their ability to do January business, the news of West Ham's interest will come as a blow to Arsenal's hopes of signing the Mexican.
The 22-year-old has been scoring for fun since joining Feyenoord in 2022 and has bagged 43 goals in 67 appearances.
We explained how it might be difficult for Arsenal to get a striker through the door this month with Mikel Arteta labelling it as "unrealistic".
But Arsenal are in dire need of someone who can find the back of the net on a regular basis.
The Gunners attacking force of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Eddie Nketiah have managed just 20 goals in the league this season.
That number is nowhere near the 59 that they finished last season's campaign with as a collective.
All the attention at the Emirates Stadium appears to be on signing a centre-forward.
The Gunners have been a shadow of their previous selves in front of goal this term and need to add attacking reinforcements to mount a title challenge.
The north London outfit have been linked with moves for the likes of Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Dominic Solanke.
But it is looking increasingly unlikely that they will be able to get a bagsman through the door this month due to financial restraints at the club.
Mikel Arteta made it clear that his side would struggle to do business in January when he described their chnaces of incoming business as "unrealistic".
He told beIN Sports: “At the moment, it doesn’t look realistic.
“My job is to improve our players and get better results with the players we have.”
Arsenal are reportedly relaxed on Mikel Arteta's contract situation at the Emirates Stadium.
The Spanish boss has just 18 months remaining on his current deal with the club after arriving four years ago.
And although things aren't clicking on the pitch for Arsenal at the moment there is said to be no concern over Arteta's contract.
Fabrizio Romano told Caught Offside: "They are very happy together. Arteta loves Arsenal and the club is very happy with him, so there’s no rush, all parties are relaxed.”
Arsenal are understood to have their full focus on trying to re-track their season after a string of poor results has seen them exit the FA Cup and fall from first to fourth in the Premier League.
Jurrien Timber has stepped up his recovery following the 22-year-old's ACL injury at the start of the season.
The Dutch defender arrived at the Emirates Stadium this summer from Ajax, but was hooked on his Premier League debut after sustaining the nasty injury.
However in a positive move for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, Timber now seems to be back working with a ball at his feet with the squad during their warm-weather training camp in Dubai.
Stan Collymore has suggested that Aaron Ramsdale should consider a move to West Ham.
He told CaughtOffside: "I wonder if West Ham might fancy him.
"They’ve got Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski as their two senior keepers but both are into their 30’s with the latter close to turning 40, so it seems a change in that position is coming sooner rather than later.
“Could Ramsdale be the man for David Moyes? – I think so, and I also think that’s one club that could offer him exactly what he’s looking for.
“The Hammers are a big enough club that their players are considered for international duties, they have had recent success in Europe, and by the manager’s own admission, are now aiming to establish themselves as a Champions League side — that seems like the perfect project for a player like Ramsdale.”
Unai Emery has confirmed that former Arsenal star Callum Chambers can leave Aston Villa.
He said: "We're going to face three competitions until the end of the season that are very difficult so we ned the players to be ready.
"We have the players here. Some players can leave.
"Calum Chambers and Bertrand Traore can leave, and in that case we can think about adding some players, but not at the moment. I want to support the players we have now."
Arsenal have recalled Marquinhos from his loan spell at Ligue 1 outfit FC Nantes.
The Brazilian has been at the club since the start of the season and has featured seven times in the league.
The winger failed to score in his game time.
Arsenal have wished him luck on helping Brazil qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
A club statement said: "We welcome Marquinhos back to the club and wish him all the best for the international tournament and his continued development."
