A GROUP teaching the public to tackle hate crime compared women who fear men behind them to racists, it is claimed.
The trainers said such a reaction was unconscious bias — likening it to a white person avoiding a black one, a whistleblower said.
It comes days after a damning inquiry was published into rogue cop Wayne Couzens’ kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard as she walked home.
Labour MP Rosie Duffield called the training outrageous nonsense.
She said: “Encouraging women to ignore our instincts is dangerous. Comparing it to racism is ridiculous.”
The claims emerged from a Uniting Staffordshire Against Hate session at the county police’s HQ last week.

Harry Miller, of We Are Fair Cop, went undercover.
He said trainers accused women fearing men’s footsteps at night of unconscious bias or “flawed thinking”.
They told him: “It’s the same as a person who sees a black man and takes evasive action like crossing the street. That’s racism.”
But Harry insisted: “They’re encouraging women to put themselves in danger.”
USAH did not answer requests for comment.
Staffs police said: “We’ll review discussions that took place.”
