‘Do better!’ rant BBC Breakfast viewers as they slam Sally Nugent and Jon Kay for ‘weak and pathetic’ Oscars report

BBC Breakfast viewers have been left annoyed by the coverage of the Oscars, complaining that the show hosts failed to mention key moments of the ceremony.

Several Brits scooped up major prizes last night, with Christopher Nolan winning Best Director for Oppenheimer and Londoner Jonathan Glazer copping Best International Feature Film with The Zone Of Interest.

This was Christopher's first Oscar win and eighth nomination.

His film also secured the number one spot of the night, and was announced as Best Picture.

However, Sally Nugent and Jon Kay focused on other aspects of the ceremony, such as John Cena presenting awards naked and a clapping dog in the audience.

Those watching BBC Breakfast at home were disappointed to see that British directors who won such major prizes did not receive a mention on the news programme.

One person hit out: "Sad that, during the 6:00 -6:30am news, Sally Nugent doesn’t seem to want to mention BRITISH director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN winning the best director Oscar. Slightly pathetic."

Another added: "Just watched report from the Oscars and no mention of Zone Of Interest winning UK best International picture at Oscars first time we have won this award !

"Weak reporting live at Oscars as well as in the overview clips. Do better BBC."

A third also slammed the presenters for failing to mention The Zone of Interest's big win, writing: "Shame you mentioned all the films that won Oscars but not this one."

Another complained that a Ukrainian director was not acknowledged, writing: "Mention 20 Days in Mariupol when you talk about the Oscars!

"Last year you went on and on about the Russian who won the Oscar, at least you can do is to mention 20 Days in Mariupol."
