However, just moments later they made up for it with a strike from Diogo Jota.
And minutes into the second half Jota strikes again for the Red to take a lead.
Arsenal are storming ahead 4-1 against League One side Bolton.
Declan Rice scored the opener followed by Ethan Nwaneri's double strike.
Raheem Sterling also secured his first goal for the Gunners since making the move from Chelsea in the summer.
