Why you need to be on Facebook & Instagram if you want to sell quick on Vinted and three other hacks to help you cash in
A WOMAN has shared her top five tips to sell your items fast on Vinted.
So if you’ve got a wardrobe full of old clothes that you never wear, you’ve come to the right place.
Kelly Hurworth, a savvy mum from the UK took to social media to share her advice on how to make cash on the online marketplace app.
She explained that you’ll need to be on Facebook and Instagram if you want to make money fast - and bundle discounts are key for shifting your stuff.
In the short clip, which was captioned ‘Hope this helps with getting started on Vinted’, Kelly said: “Here are my top tips for beginners starting out selling on Vinted.”
SET IT UP
When you set up your Vinted account, Kelly advised: “First things first - get your page set up, get everything uploaded.

“Price wise, have a look at how much other things are priced for.
“You won't make much on items, but it does soon add up when you put multiple things for sale.”
BUNDLE DEALS
If you want to get rid of your stuff, Kelly recommended: “Second thing - have bundle discounts turned on.
“People love bundle discounts. There is a discount if you buy two or more items, three or more items, and I think it's five or more items.
“You can choose what percentage those all are at. Mine all set at 10%, 20%, and 30%.
“It just encourages people to buy more because they get that extra saving.”
JOIN THE GROUPS
It might come as a surprise, but Kelly suggested joining Facebook groups as a way to sell items, as she claimed: “Number three - be in Facebook groups.
That's definitely how I get the most traffic to my page
Kelly Hurworth
“There are tons of Vinted Facebook groups and you can share your post in there, a screenshot of what you're selling, the price and a link to it.
“Some pages don't like you to link, they want you to just write your username, so check the rules in each group.
“That's definitely how I get the most traffic to my page and success in selling is to put things in groups.
“Particularly if I'm selling kids stuff - there's Vinted babies and kids groups.”
SHIPPING OUT
When it comes to posting your items, the mother explained: “My next tip is to look at what shipping options you're going to offer.
“Shipping costs are covered by the person that's buying, so you don't have to pay anything out of pocket to be able to send stuff.
“There is Yodel, Evri, In-post lockers, Royal Mail.
“I don't use Royal Mail because it's a pain to go to the post office. For now, I'm using Yodel and In-post because I've got a drop-off point opposite my house.
“Really important to check and make sure you're offering the correct postage options to suit you.
“When I'm really busy, I was doing drop-offs nearly every day of the week, so it definitely helps to have somewhere close to your house.”
SHARE WITH FRIENDS
Finally, Kelly advised posting your items on Instagram, to see if any friends or family are interested in buying your listings, as she concluded: “My final tip is to share items that I'm selling on my Instagram Stories with a link to that item.
I've had quite a few of my followers buying stuff from me because they've seen it on my Instagram
Kelly Hurworth
“Sometimes people that are following you or you're following them, or friends or family may see things that they wanna buy.
“They can message you and you can buy offline or people may buy through your store on Vinted.
“I've had quite a few of my followers buying stuff from me because they've seen it on my Instagram, so it definitely helps.
“Good luck! Hope it helps!”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @mrskellyhurworth, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed 22,500 views.
NEW RULES
But if you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play.
If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax.
However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.
What photos you should upload

High-quality and clear images will help your items stand out on Vinted amongst a vast array of items available on the platform.
Here are the five essential shots The Sun's Rose O'Sullivan recommends:
- Picture one: A clear shot of the front of the dress, gym set, trousers, etc
- Picture two: The back of the outfit
- Picture three: Photograph sleeve or pant length
- Picture four: Close-up of the stitching, or if any flaws on the item include zoomed-in shots of this too
- Picture five: If they are trousers, take pictures of lining, zips or buckles
You're unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year - generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax.
A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit - the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.
However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700.
It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe.

While your data won't be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you'll still need to pay tax as normal.
