‘It annoys the hell out of me’ Lidl shoppers rage at addition to supermarket’s tills – despite it making food cheaper
BAGGING a bargain at the supermarket can be difficult, especially with the cost of even basic groceries going up and up.
One woman has stunned Lidl shoppers with her huge fruit and veg haul though - after picking it up for less than £2.
If you haven’t your weekly shop, now might be the time to head down to the German supermarket.
As well as their coveted middle aisle, which has endless household essentials, the retailer now has an incredible offer on 5kg boxes of fruit and veg.
One shopper was so shocked at what she received, she even took to Facebook to gush about the mega deal and share what was inside.
Posting a picture to the Yellow sticker shopping tips, tricks and haul group, the lucky shopper revealed that she’d been determined to grab a box after hearing about the Lidl offer.

She wrote in the caption: “I went to Lidl as early as I could today after they opened and grabbed a veg box. I’m happy with it.”
It’s unsurprising why she was so keen to get the deal, as the savvy shopper received a punnet of grapes, a bunch of bananas, an iceberg lettuce, potatoes, oranges and radishes.
There was even a rogue kiwi and aubergine thrown in, with the entire box costing her for less than £2.
If that was impressive enough, the Facebook user also managed to pick up extra discounted fruit and veg in store as well as an entire pizza.
“I did a little shopping too and the best bargain was the 60% off blackberries. I find them a bit too pricey on full price. 2 whole crates of blackberries were on sale,” she explained, with the fruit costing her just 64p per pack.
She also revealed that she’d gotten 30 per cent off chicken wings, bread and better than half price mushrooms.
For those who are wanting to recreate this impressive haul, you’ll need to head to Lidl as the supermarket will regularly have similar boxes in store.
This is because the discount supermarket sells bundles of produce as part of its Waste Not scheme and shoppers can pick up a 5kg box for as little as £1.50.
Whilst the type of fruit and veg change every day, there should be something to suit even the pickiest of eaters.
Understandably, other shoppers were kicking themselves are not for forgetting about the offer – especially Lidl will also discount branded fresh food.
“Annoys the hell out of me that the veg boxes are after the till and I forget about them until after I've paid a tenner for veg I could have got for £1.50,” wrote one user, adding: “Especially when they have rooster potatoes in and I've just bought regular potatoes.”
Another made a note to change their shopping routine, with them writing: “Note to self, parking the car outside Lidl, go for the veg box first.”

Others revealed that the incredible Lidl deal had become part of their grocery shop, with a third saying: “I always look for the veg box before I shop. I can see the shelf at the back of the shop before I go in.”
