Mikel Arteta’s No2 Carlos Cuesta ‘lined up for shock exit as Championship club target Arsenal coach for manager job’

MIKEL ARTETA'S right-hand man Carlos Cuesta is lined up for a shock exit to become manager at Norwich, a report claims.

Arsenal's 28-year-old assistant coach is rated as one of the best young coaches in the world.

Cuesta joined the Gunners from Juventus in 2020 and is set to take on his first senior role after working beside Arteta for four years.

The Guardian have reported that Norwich are interested in offering the Spaniard a managing role at the end of the season after an inconsistent term under David Wagner.

Carrow Road's current sporting director Ben Knapper was the loans manager at the Emirates until his switch last November.

Cuesta is open to working with Knapper as the pair built a strong relationship at Arsenal but he is only likely to consider the move once the season is over.

But he also has a strong relationship with Arteta and has been credited with helping to transform Arsenal into a title contender side.

The Gunners No2 can speak six languages and has been successful assisting Arteta's side who currently sit third in the Premier League.

He has had a pivotal role as individual development coach and the Gunners are said to be resisting any approaches for their star man.

Arsenal are expecting to have to fend off interest for Arteta's assistant as the report claims several other Championship sides are have shown an interest in the coach.

Norwich have had a difficult term after losing 4-2 from a two-goal lead against Watford on Tuesday.

The Norfolk side are outside a playoff spot on goal difference meaning Wagner's job is not under threat just yet.

At 18-year-old Cuesta began his coaching career at Atletico Madrid in 2014.

The in 2018, he was appointed assistant manager of the youth academy of Juventus.
