World Grand Prix Snooker LIVE RESULTS: Ronnie O’Sullivan vs Judd Trump latest score and updates from final in Leicester

  • Revenge for the Juddernaut?

Judd Trump grew up idolising Ronnie O’Sullivan and wanting to emulate the Rocket’s achievements on the table.

The Juddernaut, 34, says it was a dream of his to play his hero in the 2022 World Championship final at the Crucible.

Trump lost that day over two days and four sessions as O’Sullivan succeeded 18-13.

Trump has lost his past three meetings – you have to go back to the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix in 2020 for his last success.

The world No.2 has won this title on three occasions, the first time being against O’Sullivan in 2015.

This week has been the perfect way to bounce back after his Masters quarter-final exit.

The head-to-head results, according to ITV Sport, are 14-13 in O’Sullivan’s favour.

  • What a week for the Rocket

It has been an interesting seven days or so for snooker’s greatest player.

Last Sunday, Ronnie O’Sullivan won the Masters for a record-extending eighth occasion.

His 10-7 victory over Ali Carter saw him bank £250,000 and establish his status as the best there has ever been.

But that only tells half the story.

In their post-final press conferences, there were fireworks.

Carter accused O’Sullivan of “disgusting” and “outrageous” behaviour, claiming he was “snotting all over the floor and all that”.

In response, the world No.1 went on a furious X-rated, expletive-driven tirade.

The Essex cueist stuck up his middle finger, claimed his opponent was a “nightmare” and then raged: “I don’t give a f***. The more he brings it on, the more I f***ing punish him every time.”

O’Sullivan 48, has spent all week in Leicester criticising his displays and cueing action, blasting his own form – and yet he has not lost since early November.

In one way, it perfectly sums up the brilliance of O’Sullivan on and off the table.
