NatWest down updates — Banking app and website hit with outage as thousands unable to login to accounts

  • What to do if you can’t access your money

If you can’t access your money and you need to urgently, here’s what to do:

    • Visit your local branch as soon as you can.
    • If you can’t get there, or it is closed, call your bank and ask for its guidance on what to do.
    • If the bank’s phone services are also down or busy, try contacting your bank on social media to ask what to do. But remember: don’t ever share your account details over social media.
    • Try to do this on the day the problem arises so you can show you made every attempt to solve the issue.
    • If you still can’t access your money, begin gathering evidence for a complaint.
  • Users fume amid outage

Customers have taken to social media to fume amid this morning's outage.

One said: "Like countless others cannot access my account either online or via the app! Please sort this or give an update as to what is happening - no good just asking for a DM!"

A second complained: "My NatWest app is not working. Not good enough NatWest this never seems to happen to other banks."

Another wrote: "Is the banking app and website down? Tried logging in on app just says there is a problem and the website I sign in and it just says signed out."

A fourth commented: "The Natwest banking app and online banking has been down for a considerable time this morning.

"No status messages from Natwest & only replying to anxious customers with 'please DM me' - that's not good enough Natwest."

  • NatWest 'aware of issues' and working on fix

NatWest has said it is aware of today's outage and is working on a fix.

Taking to X, the banking service wrote: "We are aware some customers are having issues with logging into the app and online banking.

"Our tech team are working hard to get it resolved asap.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this and thank you for your patience."
