Women are just discovering why they’ve been ‘going through tampons so much quicker’ – even men say it’s ‘cold-blooded’
A SAVVY woman has investigated why the ladies may find themselves going through tampons quicker than usual.
Her observation for the feminine products was so shocking, some men even chimed in to call it "cold-blooded."
Melissa Simonson (@realmelissasimo) filmed herself demonstrating the tampon controversy in a video on TikTok.
SHRINKING AWAY
She filmed herself in front of a picture of a Tampax tampon from 2023 versus one from this year.
The older menstrual product was clearly larger than the current model.
She criticized the manufacturer's decision to make the tampons smaller without notifying the consumer.
Simonson also advised viewers to consider ways to make up for the tinier size.
"We can prepare ahead of time if we know, with pantyliners or upsizing from our usual to make up for their cotton shortage, anything," she said.
Simonson also referred to the situation as "#shrinkflation."
WOMEN CLAP BACK
The video drew in many viewers who shared their thoughts on the situation in the comment section.
Several women expressed that they had noticed the slight change as well.
"I knew I wasn't crazy," one wrote. "I was wondering why I was going thru them so much quicker."
"You’re definitely not," Simonson replied. "You’re in good company, too."
"So it's not just me?" another added. "Dude, I thought my flow was getting worse because my tampons soak through way faster now."
"I wondered why I went from using super plus tampons to needing to use Ultra on my heavier days," a third commented.
"Actually, I was like, why do I need super like every single day except the days I need Super Plus or Ultra? Now we know," Simonson responded. "Regular is trash made for no one."
"Oh my God, this makes so much sense," yet another wrote. "I was like, how do I go through two boxes now in one cycle? It used to be one and one-fourth boxes."
"I had the same question," Simonson said. "Truly thought my body was changing over time."
"I thought it was me," one more woman said.
"Nope," Simonson replied. "Our bodies didn’t change — any funny business was because they’re sneaky and pull shenanigans. Hear me, Tampax? You owe me a pair of pants."

Even a man chimed in on the shrinking tampons as a pressing women's health issue.
"I'm sorry, because as a man I laughed at this one, that's cold-blooded," he wrote. "I can't believe they did that to y'all."
