My baby has a genetic ‘twin’ sister but not the same mum & dad -people can’t get their head around it but it makes sense

A MUM has revealed that her daughter has a genetic sister, who does not share the same mum or dad.

Venessa Sealby is a twin, and she and her sister Kerissa married a set of twins, named Lucas and Jacob.

Venessa and Lucas share a five month old daughter named Adrian, while Kerissa and Jacob share 19-month-old Sophie.

Obviously, Adrian and Sophie are cousins, however, they are also genetically siblings, known as quaternary twins.

Quaternary twins occur when two sets of twins have children with each other.

The two babies share DNA, in the same way that siblings do.

Speaking to The Today Show, the family said: "For us, it's a really cool experience.

"They're going to be like twins as they will grow up together".

The two couples live in neighbouring houses in Oregon, USA, and are constantly popping over to each other's homes.

They hope to get pregnant at the same time again for baby number two, so that they can raise their next children as if they are twins.

Venessa and Kerissa never planned on dating twins, as they both have completely different types, but fell in love with Jacob and Lucas after just one double date.

The couples now say they really enjoy dating twins as they understand each other in a way that people who don't have a twin would not.

Kerissa explained: "Before we met Lucas and Jacob, guys didn’t understand why we needed to spend so much time together.

"They’d get upset if I was like, ‘I want to go to dinner with Venessa, just her and me'".

However, dating a twin does have it's downsides, and Lucas shared an embarrassing story about when he once got his wife and her sister mixed up.

He said: "I thought my wife was looking really good in the kitchen after the gym, so I gave her a light tap on the behind."

"And it turned out it was not her!"

The unconventional family has sent social media users in to a frenzy, with many people struggling to get their heads around the fact that the two babies are sisters.

Commenting under a video of the family, one person said: "My brain ain’t braining".

Another person said: "I don't get it".

A third person said: "As a mum of twins it would freak me out if my twins married twins".

A fourth added: "Family functions must get really confusing for the extended families".
