I’m a stay-at-home housewife – trolls say I’m lazy and don’t set a good example, but I do work, I just don’t get paid
A STAY-AT-HOME housewife has revealed the abuse she receives as a result of her lifestyle.
Sophie, who spends her days cooking, cleaning, food shopping and looking after her children, revealed that nasty trolls hail her as ‘lazy’ and accuse her of not setting a good example to her kids.
Posting on social media, the busy mum gave her bathroom a scrub, as she opened up on the nasty messages she has received.
She said: “Clean the bathroom with me while I talk about some of these comments that I’ve had recently on my videos.”
Sophie then shared screenshots of some rude messages from trolls, one of which read: ‘Her family values are being a lazy housewife and isn’t setting a good example to her children. Unemployed people tend to have unemployed adults.’
Not only this, but other messages said: ‘I know but she does that full time she needs to apply for jobs’ and ‘Cannot relate how her time passes as a housewife. Do a CV and do something with your life.’

But that’s not all, as another nasty troll penned: ‘Why on earth are you a housewife? Don’t you apply for jobs?’
Clapping back to the haters, Sophie explained: “As soon as I left school, I got a job at the age of 16. I worked part-time whilst I was at college.
“As soon as I left college I got a full-time job at the bank. I worked there for five years and then at the age of 24 I fell pregnant with my first child.
“At eight months pregnant, I got made redundant from that job so obviously I didn’t go looking for a new job, because I was about to give birth.
“When my little boy was 18-months-old I got pregnant with my second child, my little girl.
“I just love being a mum and spending all my time with my children, looking after them and taking care of them, and also looking after my husband and taking care of the house.
“I know everyone’s circumstances are different, so not everyone is able to be a stay-at-home mum or a housewife.
“I have an extremely hard working husband that is very determined and he has worked his butt off for the last 12 years, since I’ve known him, to get where he is in his job., so I can stay at home and be a mum and a housewife, while he goes to work and supports us financially.”
Sophie then explained that she does work, she just doesn’t get paid, as she continued: “At this moment in time for me, I don’t need to get a job.
“If I wanted to and I was bored of being a housewife, then I would happily go and get a job.
“I think we just need to remember that everyone is different. Everyone has different circumstances and to stop judging how people choose to live their lives.
“Both me and my husband were brought up with our mums at home with us when we were younger. My husband has gone on to get the most amazing job, supporting his family. And I did work, like I said, as soon as I left school.
“I am still working, I just don’t get paid for it. I work for my family to keep them happy and to do everything that needs to be done around my house.
“So please stop judging people on their choices on what they do with their lives.”
Sophie later wrote: “Time is precious and I would much rather be there to pick my kids up from school and spend every weekend and school holidays with them, than earn a bit extra money.
“More money doesn't mean more happiness. They're only little for such a short time, so I want to be there for them as much as possible. Doesn't time fly once you have kids?”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @sophies.home.life, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed 11,300 views in just 17 hours.
Despite the hate comments Sophie has previously been subject to, social media users were eager to support the woman and took to the comments to share messages of love and support.
One person said: “I think it’s lovely to stay at home and look after your family, I wish I could and spend more time with them.”
Another added: “Argh! Some people!! If you want to be a stay at home mum, good for you!”
