Person sucked into engine & killed at Amsterdam Schiphol airport in front of horrified passengers

A PERSON has been sucked into plane's engine and killed at Amsterdam's main airport.

The individual was caught in the engine of a departing KLM Cityhopper Embraer E190.

Passengers and ground crew reportedly witnessed the horror death as emergency services rushed to the scene.

It is unclear at this stage whether the victim was a passenger or an employee.

The aircraft was a Cityhopper Embraer E190 belonging to the airline KLM.

The plane was scheduled to take off for Billund in Denmark at 2.25pm.

It can carry up to 104 passengers.

In a statement, the airport said: "A horrific incident occurred today where a person became trapped in the engine of an aircraft.

"Our thoughts are with the loved ones and we care for the passengers and colleagues who witnessed this incident."
