Three people found guilty for murder of schoolgirl 27 years ago

Three people have been found guilty of the murder of a schoolgirl 27 years ago.

Robert O'Brien, 45, Andrew Kelly and Donna Marie Brand, both 44, had denied murdering Caroline Glachan in West Dunbartonshire.

They have all been found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow today.

The 14-year-old's body was found in the River Leven on 25 August 1996.

Prosecutors said the trio arranged to meet the teenager at a bridge near a towpath beside the river between Renton and Bonhill.

They then assaulted her, shouted and swore at her and repeatedly kicked and punched her on the head and body.

They were believed to have thrown bricks or "similar instruments" causing blunt force injuries to her head and body, before pushing or causing her to fall into the river, and ultimately murdering her.
