Why was Fredo arrested?
In October 2023 The Sun reported that Fredo had been arrested and was being held in a Dubai prison.
The musician, who had released the number one hit Toxic Trait with Stormzy just months prior, had been accused of being in possession of cannabis.
At the time it was reported that he could be handed a three year sentence behind bars due to Dubai's strict zero tolerance for drugs-related offences.
It also feared that he could face deportation, a fine, and a ban from returning to the country.
In March 2024, however, Fredo returned to social media and revealed to fans that he had been released from prison.
He didn't clarify what he was charged with but admitted that he was arrested after "panicking" and swallowing his stash of the Class B drug cannabis.
He also revealed he was "feeling rehabilitated" from his stint behind bars.
Speaking on Instagram, Fredo said: "Don't be scared to come to Dubai. Just don't bring anything that you're not meant to bring and you'll be alright.
"Don't listen to the rumours. They'll treat you nice. They'll give you a lot of chicken biryani. They'll give you a lot of thinking time. We all make mistakes."
The star also said that he had no bathroom during his time in prison, telling his followers: "No toilets - nothing. Hole in the ground. No tissue roll. None of that. It's crazy.
"But it makes you appreciate your life and all the good stuff you've got going on."
He added: "It was a big accident. I would never ever bring weed to Dubai. Getting right back to the music."
