Britney Spears’ dad Jamie gets his leg amputated and is ‘not doing well’ as singer ‘considers reconciling’ with him
BRITNEY Spears' father Jamie has had his leg amputated after fighting an infection for weeks.
The 71-year-old had reportedly had 5 unsuccessful surgeries on his leg and doctors decided the only solution was amputation.
A source told TMZ: "Jamie had a massive infection in one of his legs that landed him in a hospital for weeks.
"He had 5 unsuccessful surgeries to contain the infection, and doctors decided the only way to proceed was amputation."
Jamie had the amputation a month ago and is "not doing well", according to the outlet.
He lost more than 25 pounds while battling the infection and looked “extremely thin” while “in and out” of medical care, sources told PageSix in October.
On Tuesday, an insider claimed Britney has softened toward her father recently following a brutal battle to leave her conservatorship.
She has reportedly admitted to missing her dad and talked about sending him money to help him out.
The 42-year-old - who reunited with her mom Lynne last week - is considering reconciling with him, TMZ reported.
A source added: "There's nothing [Jamie] would rather have than a reconciliation with his daughter, and [he] harbors no ill will."
Britney was finally freed from her controversial conservatorship in 2021 under which her dad, Jamie, managed her financial affairs and other aspects of her life.
It was first introduced following a mental health crisis Britney suffered in 2008.
Britney compared her "abusive" conservatorship to sex trafficking when she spoke out in June 2021.
In December 2022, Jamie spoke exclusively to The Sun and claimed he is far from the monster fans have painted him to be.
In his first interview in more than a decade, he said: “My God, where would she be without that conservatorship now? I ain’t gonna paint you no pretty pictures.
"That conservatorship was one hell of a time, and without it, I don’t know if she would be alive now.”
Even though he says all decisions under the order were taken jointly with a “group of very good people”, her fans saw him as a controlling puppet master.
Jamie added: “I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. This situation between us is just terrible.”
He also backed a claim by her ex-husband Kevin Federline that the court order did not destroy her relationship with her sons Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden, 16 — it made it possible for her to rebuild it.
Speaking to The Sun one year after a Los Angeles judge finally set his daughter free, he said: “I don’t believe she would’ve got the kids back without the conservatorship.”
He also insisted he and Britney had “good times under the conservatorship” and claims it gave her two sons a sense of normality.
Britney has been working to rebuild relationships with her family in recent weeks.
She spent time with her mom Lynne, 68, and brother Bryan, 46, while celebrating her birthday at the weekend.
In a photo shared to social media, Britney cuddled her mom while they lay on the couch.
It was a special moment for Lynne, who wrote: "Happy birthday to Britney Spears. I am so happy you and your momma are together at last. Here's to healing and a life of happiness, freedom and bonds that will never be broken!"
The mother and daughter patched up their differences in May after three years of silence.
After receiving a surprise visit, Britney told fans on social media: "My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it's been such a long time … with family there's always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!
"After being able to communicate what I've held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!! I love you so much !!! Psss… I'm so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let's go shopping afterwards !!!"
