The technology-free adventure attraction launching in Yorkshire – with axe-throwing, archery and bushcraft

A NEW adventure attraction is set to open in the UK - and it will feature axe-throwing, archery sessions and a low ropes obstacle course.

Located just east of Wykeham, North Yorkshire Water Park is expanding its offering to feature a wide range of new land-based activities.

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Scarborough-based attraction will open Adventure Wood - a brand-new adventure park, which has been designed to expand the water park's on-land offering.

The on-land adventure park is set to feature a wide range of activities like axe throwing, archery, a low ropes obstacle course and bushcraft workshops.

Both the axe-throwing and archery workshops are led by experienced instructors, with each session costing £18 per person for one hour.

North Yorkshire Water Park first opened in July 2017 with just an AquaPark.

In the years since its opening, the water park has grown to include several other water-based activities, including kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and a range of other outdoor leisure facilities.

Other activities at North Yorkshire Water Park include a 250m Zipline, which visitors can book to go on a zipline with lake views.

Each zipline session lasts 45 minutes and costs £12.50 per person.

Other activities include an escape room, a puzzle room and a climbing wall.

Activities should be booked in advance online, with bookings already being taken for the attraction's newest arrivals.

Those holidaymakers who give one of the brand-new activities a go, within a week of opening, will receive a £10 voucher that can be redeemed against future bookings.

"It’s been a pivotal plan of ours as we strive to become a Centre of Excellence and adventure hub for families, friends, and large groups to enjoy.

"There is such a wide range of new activities on offer, with even more still to come, as we plan to add Laser Tag in the near future.

"A lot of investment and effort has been going into creating something we are very proud of and we can’t wait to welcome the public!"

North Yorkshire Water Park has been praised by holidaymakers on TripAdvisor, with a 4.5/5 star rating.

One person commented: "North Yorkshire Water Park has become our go-to destination for paddleboarding adventures with friends, and our experiences have consistently been nothing short of fantastic."

A second person added: "A brilliant day out - we started with the zip wire, then lunch and a walk around the lake, followed by the new escape room. Definitely recommend!"

North Yorkshire Water Park is a 20-minute drive from Scarborough, and it's a 90-minute drive from Middlesbrough.

Duelling rollercoaster, Legoland

Work is continuing on a brand new ride set to open at Legoland, Windsor this year.

The Minifigure Speedway is set to be the first Lego themed duelling rollercoaster ride anywhere in the world.

Passengers will go both forwards and backwards, while taking part in a race between between the Team Legends and Allstars, both led by a Lego characters.

Earlier this year, images emerged of construction starting on the ride, which will be built where the former Raft Racers ride was before it closed in 2022.

HyperiaThorpe Park

The theme park is set to launch what will be the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the UK later this year.

Unveiled as Hyperia in mid-October, the coaster is expected to be ready sometime in early 2024, with some rumours suggesting April could be the month it launches.

At 236ft tall, the new ride will take the title of the UK’s tallest rollercoaster from Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s The Big One.

It’s also set to smash speed records when it opens to the public, reaching a velocity of 81mph.

Five new water attractions opening in the UK next year
