New Renault boasts bizarre ‘world first’ feature – it promises to stop crumbs but fans are left divided

FRENCH motor firm Renault is set to wow fans with a "world first" feature that will keep their whip feeling brand new.

The motor - a Renault 5 E-Tech - will be a swanky new re-birth to the original which was released 40 years ago.

It's the first time the model will be released with an all-electric interior and is expected to be released in 2025.

The motor will come in five different colours, diamond black, midnight blue, pop green, pop yellow and artic white - with a price-stamp of £25,000.

The futuristic redesign of the old classic has a battery that will run for 250 miles before it needs to be juiced - and is adorned with nostalgic nods to the original motor including a '1972' grill covering a 3D printed storage component.

As reported by GB News, Renault design boss Gilles Vidal, said: "The older generations will relate and have a connection to the 5 but my kids are fairly young, for example, and they don’t know these old cars.

"We designed this car so it would be interesting and attractive for what it is, without needing to relate to its history."

But there's one feature that hasn't been seen on any car, ever.

In a nod to their home-country, the French firm has added a baguette holder on the passenger side, so there's no longer any need to worry about ruining the inside of your motor with mountains of bread crumbs.

Designed by French basket-maker Marguerite Herlant, the woven wicker bread holder could be one of the quirkiest features in the firm's storied history.

Gilles Vidal, said: “That was [Renault CEO] Luca de Meo’s idea. It’s funny, we often think he could be a designer."

Aside from the comical - and no doubt very useful - addition, the EV will land with a litter of other features.
