Hong Kong police hunt for motorist who struck 4 pedestrians outside fruit market

Hong Kong police are searching for the driver of a black car that ran into a group of pedestrians near a fresh fruit wholesale market in Yau Ma Tei before fleeing the scene.

Police on Sunday said the incident took place shortly after 11pm on Saturday and left two men and two women, aged 28 to 31, with minor injuries. The victims were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Kwong Wah Hospital for treatment.

The car was travelling along Waterloo Road in the direction of Tai Kok Tsui when the driver is believed to have lost control and struck the group of passers-by outside a Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market stall on No 21 Waterloo Road.

CCTV footage circulated online shows the vehicle briefly stopped after hitting the people and some pallets of fruits, before appearing to reverse and slam into some wooden pallets and then driving away.
