According to police, a 42-year-old woman surnamed Lam and a man of unknown identity were found unconscious at the scene and rushed to the nearby Yan Chai Hospital.

The woman was later transferred to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan for further treatment, the force added.

Lam’s teenage son and daughter, the children’s father and a 22-year-old woman living in another flat were also sent to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The Fire Services Department has classified the fire as suspicious and referred the case to police, who said it was still under investigation.
