Stars of huge Netflix show reunite at SAG awards 11 years after dramatic finale killed off leading man

BREAKING Bad still knows how to grip an audience 11 years on - with the cast of the much-loved show reuniting at the SAG Awards.

Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul became household names thanks to their role as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman on the drug-dealing drama - which follows a chemistry teacher turning into a meth dealer after he’s diagnosed with cancer.

Across the five seasons, Breaking Bad won 11 SAG awards among their dozens of accolades - including three for the whole cast for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

So it seemed fitting that the cast returned to the stage for the awards 30th anniversary to hand the award to a new team of recipients on Saturday night.

Bryan and Aaron led the cast, completed by Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman), RJ Mitte (Walter Jr.), Anna Gunn (Skylar), Jonathan Banks (Mike) Betsy Brandt (Marie) and Dean Norris (Hank) on the stage.

In a brief skit, the team joked about what it means to be an ensemble, before reading out the nominations.

Succession won this year’s award, beating out The Gilded Age, The Crown, The Last Of Us and The Morning Show.

As the cast took the stage, Connor Roy actor Alan Ruck spoke on behalf of the team, calling it “one last hurrah” for the praised HBO and Sky show, which ended its four-season run last year.

He said: “Right now, you’re looking at some of the luckiest people on the planet and some of the most grateful. Because not only did we get to all work on one of the best television shows, you know, maybe ever, we made friends for life.

“Now we’re thrilled to be recognized by our peers.”

Among the cast members, J Smith Cameron (who played Gerri) and Kieran Culkin (who played Roman Roy) were visibly emotional, with everyone sharing a group hug as they were played off.
