Their new-found fame has given way to quirky alternatives like the “Nude Cruise” where 2,000 people spent a week at sea in the buff.

“Cruises' explosion in popularity has made them a hotbed for affairs,” says sexpert Jessica Leoni.

“They’re the perfect environment for affairs.

“Breathing in sea air has been proven to increase serotonin and oxytocin levels—the hormones linked to love and arousal.

"So it’s no wonder that people are friskier when there’s sea air in abundance.”

“The copious amounts of entertainment and things to do on Cruise ships are the perfect alibi for those actually getting naughty in the cabins.

I'm a fit and sexy 65-year-old - everyone says I look better than my granddaughter

"And the short term nature of the trip means it’s perfect for a “quick fling”.

IllicitEncounters.com polled 2,000 members on this topic and a whopping 82 per cent of those polled said they most associated cruise holidays with cheating versus other holidays.

What’s more, women are the cheekiest, with 64 per cent confessing they’ve considered cheating on a cruise vs 49 per cent of men.

Of those polled, 56 came out as the average age people are most likely to cheat on a cruise, with Hertfordshire (26%), Staffordshire (21%) and Hampshire (19%) being revealed as the naughtiest counties with people from here most likely to cheat on a cruise vs other counties.

Cruise liners are now even having to stock on-board pharmacies with an array of sexual health products, including condoms, lube and pregnancy testing kits.

Leoni continued: “An explosion in cruise lovers with everything from nudity cruises to sex voyages, means it’s certain these figures will climb higher this year.”

“But there are five tell tale signs that your love interest’s intentions are off when it comes to a cruise”

FIVE SIGNS YOUR PARTNER’S CRUISING FOR AN AFFAIR

  1. Double dating - if your partner suggests booking a cruise with your besties, it could mean they’re looking for an early alibi to cheat
  2. Watch out for the Caribbean - they’re some of the hottest cruises you can book so stripping off and bods on show is inevitable, perfect for someone on the prowl
  3. All-you-can-eat - if your partner’s specific about an all-you-can-eat cruise then you might want to keep your wits about you. Unlimited booze and food is certain to make people’s eyes wonder
  4. The bigger the better (or not) - The bigger the cruise, the more people to cheat. The more entertainment, the more places to hide…
  5. Avoid speciality dining - it’s where everyone gets dressed to the nines each night and is a hotbed for affair seekers
