More on The One Show

Having been a mainstay on the famous green sofa for over a decade -  Alex admitted even she cannot believe her luck.

Speaking to Fearne Cotton for her Happy Place podcast, she revealed her strategy for lasting so long on-screen.

"I can't even believe I'm still there, I think I just keep quiet," Alex shared.

"I just actually go in, do the job, and hope nobody notices that I'm still there."

Speaking about the show itself, Alex added: "Oh, I just love it,"

"And you know, people ask a lot, 'but what do you want to do?' Like [I say], 'what do you mean?' [But] I'm really happy.

'It was grim' admits Alex Jones as she opens up about husband Charlie's mental heath struggles

"They're like, 'but you know, don't you want to do a big entertainment show?'

"And I'm like, Well, you know, all new projects are exciting and a new challenge.

"But actually, it would be really remiss of anybody, I think, to overlook the bread and butter."

Some of Alex's other recent projects include a documentary for the BBC, titled 'Alex Jones: Fertility & Me', where she explored issues faced by some families trying to conceive and the pioneering science intended to help them.

She added: "And if you don't put your heart and soul like you do into this, nothing works. All the extra bits are really fun and exciting.
