We turned AMBULANCE into home using car boot sale furniture & charity shop tat – traffic-busting feature came built in

A COUPLE turned an ambulance into a home using car boot sale furniture and charity shop tat.

Mark Bonito, 42 and Sophie Why, 36, from Surrey, snapped up the former emergency vehicle for just £5,000 in May 2019.

They spent just £2,00 on the renovations, and have since travelled around the UK in it

The enterprising couple prowled car boot sales and charity shops for furniture to adorn the motor named Florence after Florence Nightingale.

When the couple bought the ambulance it was complete with medical equipment necessary of attending emergency incidents.

Since then the couple have transformed the NHS ambulance into a space where they can cook and sleep.

There is also a mini desk and a TV, and they added a shower and portapotty as well.

Sophie explained: "We used loads of reclaimed materials, so we used wood from old beds people gave away, the kitchen unit was being given away on Facebook Marketplace for free, and the sink was £5."

Mark now lives in it full time, as he can remote work in his IT job, while they also run the Vanlife Eats Community, sharing recipes to eat on the road.

Chatting to the Mirror Mark said: "We always say how handy it would be to still have the blue lights."

Countless Brits have decided to sell up and move into a van to save on bills and escape the rat race.

Kieran and Beckie live with their three dogs in a van and are currently travelling around Europe.

As a result of their life on wheels, the couple live rent-free and as a result, are able to save cash not only on this, but bills too.

In a clip shared on social media, the couple opened up about how they shower when on the road.

We live rent-free in a van and it's so much cheap but there’s no shower and we wash at service stations because it’s free

Beckie explained: “So a lot of people ask how we shower on the road.

“So this is how we do it - we are currently between France and Spain.
