Hong Kong motorcyclist, 67, dead after collision with car in Kowloon

A 67-year-old Hong Kong motorcyclist has died and his female passenger has been injured after a collision with a car at a junction in Kowloon Bay.

A pedestrian called police at around 11.20am on Saturday after spotting the man and the backseat rider lying on the ground at the junction of Wang Chiu Road and Kai Cheung Road.

The man was sent to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong and was pronounced dead at 11.55am.

The woman, 61, was transported to a hospital with injuries. The car driver, 42, also required medical treatment as he hurt his hand.

About two weeks earlier, a 22-year-old motorcyclist died after he rammed into the back of a stationary light goods vehicle on the Lantau Link, which was stopped on the road.

The city recorded 2,800 to 2,900 motorcycle accidents in 2022 and 2023, according to data from transport authorities.
