I’m a vet tech & there’s a dog breed I’d never own – I don’t trust ’em as far as I can throw ’em, plus 10 more I’d avoid

A VETERINARY technician has confessed that working with dogs has changed her opinion of certain breeds for the worse.

She divided opinions after complaining about the poor behavior of the canines she’s treated.

As an animal lover, working alongside a vet to treat injured or sick pets can be extremely rewarding.

However, responses to a Reddit post have revealed it can also change your thoughts about the dog you choose to own.

A vet tech confessed that her patience for certain breeds is deteriorating the longer she works in the field.

She said some are “aggressive, hard to handle, high-strung,” and she doesn't like their size.

“German Shepherds, Huskies, Chihuahuas, Labs, Daschunds, Rottweiler, Mastiff, Cane Corso, JRT [Jack Russell Terrier], Pugs.. probably more I am missing,” she listed.

“I think I've narrowed a few breeds down to the ones I actually like. Cavaliers, Goldens, and Boxers lol.

“I do like some of the Yorki/Malti Poos and Shih Tzus. Although I wouldn't want to own one due to horrible teeth.

“Shepherds are definitely at the top of my list. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.

“I've only met a few nice ones.”

UNPREDICTABLE POOCHES

A stream of responses to the thread agreed with her list of dogs to avoid owning.

“I have come to have a strong dislike for shepherds,” one person said.

“They're mostly terrible, at least at my clinic.”

Five most dangerous dog breeds

“Pretty much the only breeds I like are Dobies and greyhounds,” another chimed in.

“I especially can't stand German shepherds, pits, and chihuahuas.

“I work emergency in a rural area, and those breeds are particularly difficult to work with when they're sick.”

“I don't trust shepherds, huskies, collies, chihuahuas, heelers, Akitas, poms, greyhounds, English and French bulldogs,” a third wrote.

“And I go slow with pit bulls because I don't trust them a whole lot but they're usually good even if they're nervous as long as you go slow.”

COSTLY CANINES

Meanwhile, others said slobber and the cost of health issues have influenced their pet-owning decision.

They always reek so bad, they drool everywhere and they shed like it's an Olympic sport.

“Ugh, don't even come near me with a Newfoundland,” one person wrote.

“They always reek so bad, they drool everywhere and they shed like it's an Olympic sport.”

“My sister owns a 3 year old gsd [German shepherd],” another said.

“She keeps telling me what a special girl she is.

“She has spent over 5000 dollars between training her and treating her for health issues.

“She growls at anyone going close to her while she is on her pillow, or in the car.

"I am sure she is special, but way too much work for me!”
