My neighbour’s security camera was pointed somewhere super creepy – I confronted him but he insists it’s legal
THE last thing any of us want is to fall out with our neighbours - especially when you've lived together for years.
But one woman has been left feeling creeped out after spotting his security camera pointed directly into her younger sister's bedroom.
She decided to give her neighbour a text to ask about the camera, but it didn't go how she expected, with her once-friendly neighbour ending the conversation saying 'Now go away little girl.'
The woman, who had inherited her house as her mum had passed away said her neighbour's camera was once covered with bamboo but it had been removed leaving her sister's room exposed.
Her 26-year-old sister could see it from her bed, and was concerned the neighbour could see her sleeping, getting changed and hanging out in her room.
Taking to social media, the woman shared the text message exchange with her neighbour to see if she was in the wrong.
She politely asked him to take the camera down as it was pointing directly into their garden and her sister's room.
"I hope we can handle it just between us directly and not have to get anyone else involved, thank you."
The neighbour revealed he would show her that the camera had no view of their property but she wasn't convinced and asked to see a screenshot of the camera's view.
However, the conversation quickly turned sour when her neighbour asked if it was a 'coincidence' they were now complaining after he asked them to turn the music down the night before to steer away from the conversation.
When this didn't work he tried to state the local (Florida) laws which stated he could use a camera unless it could directly see into a space where there was an expectation of privacy.
When she pointed it out, her neighbour's response intensified.
'Read the law very carefully, I have studied it extensively and consulted with legal counsel over the years. I am 100 per cent in the clear," he replied.
He mentioned he didn't get an apology for the loud music and added he wouldn't be moving the camera - telling the young woman to fit a hedge if she wanted it covered.
I can only imagine how he speaks to the women in his life.

He also added she should find someone with legal training if she wanted to continue the conversation.
In the Reddit post she added: "Since my mom has passed, he has ramped up the complaints and harassing texts to my sister.
"Texting her about the weather, asking her if he could walk her very large mastiff, inviting her to use his hot tub, asking if she could put packages in his house every day."
She also spoke with the housing authority in charge of the estate and they mentioned other people had complained about his cameras in the past.
Hundreds of people took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts.
One person wrote: "Just a hunch, this perv has more cameras around that you haven't noticed yet."
Another commented: "Now go away little girl" I can only imagine how he speaks to the women in his life..."
"Absolutely call the police," penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: "Get a cheap laser and point it at the lens. Not only will it block the camera view in a lot of cases but it will fry it.
