It's a tragedy that director Walter Salles wasn't given more time to discuss this extraordinary film.
The movie is based on the true story of Eunice Paiva, whose husband Rubens was suddenly “disappeared” and murdered under Brazil's military dictatorship during the 1970s.
Ho hum, he's got an Oscar now!

Best Cinematography goes to The Brutalist
About time this masterpiece received a gong - congratulations to Lol Crawley.
The movie was shot almost entirely on VistaVision, a format last used in Hollywood in the 1960s.
It's a visually spectacular venture. Just make sure you go see it on the big screen!

A duo of gongs in quick succession for Dune Part Two!
The victors paid special mention to director Denis Villeneuve who was surprisingly snubbed for Best Director.
Again, hard not to make a case for Dune taking the cake here.

The powerful and unflinching Oscar-nominated documentary offers an insider's view of the destruction of the West Bank.
Basel Adra, Rachel Szor, Hamdan Ballal and Yuval Abraham accept the award.

Composer Clément Ducol and singer-songwriter Camille share the Academy Award for Best Original Song with director Jacques Audiard for a song from the musical film Emilia Perez.
Tonight’s Oscar-winning song is titled El Mal — which translates to The Evil.
