Hongkonger, 63, held for allegedly placing urine-tainted drink on store shelf

Hong Kong police have arrested a 63-year-old man on suspicion of placing a soft drink contaminated with his urine on a supermarket shelf.

The force said on Monday that the suspect was held for allegedly administering a noxious substance with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy another person, an offence punishable by up to three years in prison.

It added that the urine was not injected into the container, but did not reveal whether the drink was in a can or a bottle.

Police said they would disclose more details about the case during a press briefing at Kowloon West Regional Headquarters in Ho Man Tin at 2.30pm.
