Guest slammed for having the ‘audacity’ to wear bridal-style gown but some argue it’s totally acceptable
WEDDINGS give us a chance to dress to impress with some women going all out on their outfits.
Whilst it’s good to look your best, one wedding guest has shocked the internet with her choice of wedding attire – and people didn’t hold back in the comments.
Though it can be hard to know what to wear to a formal wedding, most people follow the golden rule and won't wear white.
It seems that one guest didn’t get the message though after they’d showed up in a glittering white gown – encrusted with silver sequins.
Pictured in a now viral image, the unnamed woman posed next to the floral decorations and looked more like a blushing bride than just an attendee.
The dress even had a romantic sweetheart neckline and a train that trailed across the floor as she showed off her outfit.
Her bodycon dress also had a daring thigh slit, which she paired with silver heels that matched the delicate sequins sown on her evening gown.
Originally posted on Reddit, the user who uploaded the image revealed that they’d known the inappropriately dressed wedding guest before the ceremony.
They wrote: “Saw an acquaintance after years at a wedding last night. I’m still in disbelief at what she wore.”
Despite stealing the spotlight, the guest even complained about her outfit to user during the reception.
“Last pic is what she wanted to wear but didn’t because she ‘didn’t have high enough heels’ and ‘didn’t want the dress to drag’,” they revealed, showing a photo of the woman in a princess style bridal gown.
After seeing the wedding dress online, it seems others were deeply divided about whether the dress was appropriate or not.
One Redditor struggled to understand how the unnamed woman didn’t realise her dress was in appropriate as the user felt anxious about wearing white accessories.
“That is fully a wedding dress,” they complained, writing: “The actual audacity to wear that to a wedding. My mind is blown someone would genuinely consider wearing that.
“I don’t even wear white accessories to weddings because that would give me anxiety lol.”
Another admitted that they thought the post was about the bride before reading the caption properly.
“The horror I experienced as I realized this wasn’t a post inexplicably shaming a beautiful bride,” they confessed in the comments.
The actual audacity to wear that to a wedding. My mind is blown someone would genuinely consider wearing that."
Annoymous user
Others accused the guest of being ‘desperate for attention’ as they reacted to the shocking post.
“I would have had her physically removed,” said a fourth, as some commenters even suggested ‘accidentally’ spilling red wine on her or asking the woman to leave.
There were a few in the thread that seemed to like the wedding guest’s outfit, despite it resembling a wedding dress in the photos.
One user even suggest a competition between her and bride, saying: “She looks hot AF in that dress. Do a ‘who wore it better?’”
Whilst most of us would be horrified after committing this fashion faux pas, the original uploaded shared that the guest probably wasn’t so bothered by the extra attention.
