I’m a tradwife – no, I’m not on pause from my career, motherhood is my job – but trolls say I’m ‘scrounging’ off my man

A WOMAN who calls herself a ‘traditional wife’ has opened up about her life as a stay-at-home mother, but has left people totally divided.

In fact, according to Jasmine, being a mother is the only career for her.

Posting on social media, Jasmine gave her followers an insight into her life - with typical days consisting of making food from scratch and playing with her beautiful daughter.

Not only this, but Jasmine also spends time cleaning and looking after her home too.

But while Jasmine claimed “motherhood is the only career I want”, nasty trolls questioned how she affords to live.

Some even went as far to say she is “scrounging” off of her husband

In a clip shared online, Jasmine, who has previously called herself a ‘crunchy mum’, set the record straight on her ‘homesteading’ life as a ‘conservative woman’.

She explained: “I'm not on pause from a career. This is my career.

“I'm not wasting my college education, wasting my talent or wasting my time.

“I don't long for a dream job or dream about the day I can go back to work.”

When it comes to being a stay-at-home mum, she claimed: “This is my dream job.

I’m a tradwife and love every minute - trolls say working is so much more empowering but they’re being scammed

"This is the greatest work I will ever do.”

In the short video, we saw Jasmine teaching her young daughter how to cook, whilst the pair spent time in nature enjoying the sun.

What is a tradwife?

A tradwife (short for traditional wife) is a woman who chooses to take on an ultra traditional role in marriage, meaning she makes dinner and looks pretty whilst her husband goes to work.

The trend takes inspiration from the idea of a 1950s housewife.

Many tradwives choose to dress in the style of clothing popular in this period (think floral dresses and frumpy cardigans).

Additionally, the values considered important to tradwvies are similar to strict Christian values.

Tradwives state that they are not forced into this way of life, and believe that it is their purpose to be homemakers.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @jasminedinis2, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 938,800 views.

Total divide

But social media users were left totally divided by Jasmine’s clip - while some thought Jasmine’s life was ‘beautiful’ others weren’t keen.

One person said: “It’s the most important job in the world. Being there for your kids is the greatest gift you can give them.”

Another added: “This is so awesome for you.”

A third commented: “100% and I never thought I would feel this way! Working hard all day with the people you love most in the world is such a valuable use of time.”

Whilst someone else claimed: “Beautiful! Living the dream.”

However, at the same time, others accused her of relying financially on her husband and many flagged the issue of divorce

One user asked: “Ok but what is the plan if you no longer have someone financially supporting you?”

Whose money are you living off? It's called scrounging

A second chimed in: “This is great but when divorce happens, the woman has nothing and this is the main problem.”

Whilst a third penned: “Let’s check in at 40.”

Not only this, but someone else explained: “Until the husband proves unreliable like so many men do and you are left raising and feeding those kids by yourself. I will never rely on a man.”

Similarly, another wrote: “New trend. Now women abrase being dependent on husband and raising children alone.”
