‘Knife attack’ at Berlin Holocaust Memorial leaves one seriously injured as cops launch major operation
ONE person has been seriously injured following a terrifying knife attack at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.
Cops have cordoned off the crime scene between the Memorial and the US Embassy in Berlin's Mitte district.
Berlin police told German newspaper Tagespiegel that the man was injured with a sharp object and transported by the fire brigade to hospital.
Tagespiegel said the attack had taken place on the northern side of the sprawling Holocaust monument, near the US Embassy.
Police and rescuers are at the scene with various emergency vehicles.
Several people are said to have been treated for shock, Bild reports.

Officers are also searching the area.
There is currently no apparent connection to the embassy or the Berlin memorial and the perpetrator is on the run, sparking a major operation, according to Bild.
Berlin cops said in a statement on X: "At around 6 pm, a man was seriously injured by an unknown person in the Field of Stelae at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in #Mitte.
"The injured man was taken to hospital. Rescue workers are on site caring for several people who had to witness the events.
"Investigations are ongoing at the crime scene."
Cops are launching a major manhunt for the suspect.
The incident comes just hours after a Russian teenager was arrested on suspicion of planning an attack on the Israeli embassy in the German capital.
