Sam and Nigel appeared to get on relatively well during their stay in camp with Sam confessing that he "didn't know much" about Nigel and his views before heading Down Under.

However, Nigel has now raised eyebrows for an "odd" comment he made to Sam during an Instagram video following on from the show's final.

Nigel took a swipe at the former Made in Chelsea star for "hugging men" before pulling a disapproving face.

As he told the camera how he "knew" Sam would be the winner of the show, the pair shared a hug.

Ex-UKIP leader Nigel then uttered: "See, he hugs men. Very, very odd."

Nigel's comment did not go unnoticed with the star facing a backlash online for his words.

One fan asked him: "Why is it odd for men to hug men?"

Another then added: "Nothing wrong with a man hugging another man Nigel, it’s good to show the love."

A third wrote: "Nothing wrong with a good man hug."

Before a fourth quipped: "Nigel ain’t very secure in his sexuality."

His comments come after fans were left threatening to phone the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom after Nigel managed to make it to the final three of the jungle-based competition.

Reacting in shock to the news that he had made it all the way to the end, fans raged that the channel should be stripped of its broadcasting license as a result of his show placing.

Nigel beat fan favourites including This Morning star Josie GibsonJLS singer Marvin Humes and EastEnders actress Danielle Harold into the final.

Demonstrating their fury, one fan seethed on X - formerly Twitter: "If Nigel Farage is allowed to win, then ITV should be stripped of its OFCOM licence.

"This is an outrage!"
