‘I’m not usually that lucky’ – I bought a ‘really good’ Land Rover for just £950… but it’s worth five times that

A CAR dealer who bought a Land Rover for £950 has revealed how he will sell it on for five times that.

The "seriously cheap" motor is less than 15 years old and has a spotless MOT history, leaving the expert amazed that it was so heavily discounted.

Matthew Goodwin, who runs High Peak Motors in Stockport, Greater Manchester, was stunned by the "really good" condition in which he found the car.

He said: "This is a 2010 Freelander 2 HSE and I've paid just £950 for it, so it is super cheap.

"I could hardly say no could I?

"There's got to be some profit in there for me.

"How is that so cheap?

"I don't usually get this lucky."

A vehicle history check showed up a flawless service record, with no advisories on the car's recent MOTs.

Despite some worn tyres, the body of the Freelander looked in excellent condition, with only some minor scratching despite its 100,000-plus mileage.

Inside, the iconic Land Rover white leather was immaculate and Matt joked that you could "eat your dinner" off the carpets.

Despite its age, it included some neat mod cons too, with cruise control, a CD deck and parking sensor all included.

Seemingly the only thing that was actually wrong with it was that the power steering had failed, meaning you needed "the upper body strength of Arnold Schwarzenegger to do a three-point turn".

But Matt recalled that a similar issue on his old Land Rover only cost a few hundred pound to fix.

He explained that he could easily sell the car for over £5,000 but was actually saving it for an "exciting use".

Instead of selling it on, he planned to take it down to the little cottage he owns in Wales and leave it there to use on holiday rather than his own "thirsty" Range Rover.

Matt added: "It'll be ideal.

"It's four-wheel drive, it's relatively cheap so I won't be too precious about it...and it should be quite a good vehicle for exploring all those little Welsh towns.
