She was bowled over when she discovered that it actually worked.

There were no fancy or expensive gadgets in her solution, however.

All she used was a $1.50 kitchen essential and the effects lasted for three days.

“The best window condensation hack," said Lovelivedream82 (@lovelivedream).

This lady likes to give hacks a trial run and see if they really do live up to their promise.

After trying it out, she figured the washing-up liquid trick really did work.

To demonstrate her point, in her post, she pulled back the curtains in her bedroom.

“Struggle with this?” she said pointing at the offending item - a couple of inches of condensation at the base of the window.

Rather than despair, she reached for a familiar cleaning product.

“All you need is washing up liquid and a cloth," she explained. "Simply wipe it on."

Sneakily, she left an area untouched - this was her experiment to prove this method worked.

She was very happy to report that it proved its effectiveness.

“Three days later you can see where I left purposely." Sure enough, the untouched area was ridden with condensation.

“Three days later and the washing up liquid is still working as a barrier," she said.

She said this tip worked very well in bathrooms.

But experts at Envirovent said there were other ways to prevent the build-up of condensation in your homes.

Their suggestions included: keeping lids on pots while cooking, and keeping kitchen and bathroom doors closed.

They had a few more to add: drying clothes outside, turning on the extractor fan while showering, and moving furniture away from external walls.
