Kobbie Mainoo then heads the ball to Bruno Fernandes, and is there anything worse in world football than Bruno in space in your box with time to pick a pass?
If this is anything to go by, the answer is no - as he picks out Zirkzee, who heads home in fine fashion.
85' - Another chance goes over for Lacazette.
Rayan Cherki works his way into a channel for Lyon, and pulls the ball back for Lacazette, who is waiting for the ball.
But, his effort sails over to the Lyon fans behind Andre Onana's goal.
Not quite the impact the former Arsenal star would have wanted from the bench, so far.
83' - No goal for Garnacho tonight, he goes off in place of Kobbie Mainoo.
Amorim also switches in defence, as Harry Maguire makes way for Victor Lindelof.
Might be one last roll of the dice for Amorim, as he aims to send United back to Manchester with a lead to defend.

They're like London busses - you wait ages for one then two chances come in 30 seconds.
Garnacho gets onto the end of a wicked cross, and fires a good effort straight at Perri for a corner.
From the corner, Casemiro heads an effort just wide, Perri looked like he was not going to get to it.
It's the closest United have been in the whole second half, with Lyon relentlessly passing it in the United half.
77' - It is getting lively out there!
Mason Mount gets hit hard by Nicolas Tagliafico, and not happy with the challenge, gives Tagliafico a shove.
However, the Argentine left-back was not ready to let Mount just push him around, and let Mount know it as he returned fire.
A quick scuffle between the teams and the referee sent them on their way.
Both sides have had chances to take the lead – with the best one falling to former Arsenal man Alexandre Lacazette minutes after coming off the bench. Yoro could also have scored his second of the night but United would almost certainly be happy with a draw from here.
69' - Garnacho blows a great chance for United.
It looked as though he almost had too much time, racing away from the Lyon defence with Zirkzee right and Bruno left.
However, he couldn't decide where to go, and in the end went to neither, playing a poor pass to Bruno, which the Portuguese international was unable to reach.
Mata collects, and gets it away.
64' - Tolisso sends Mazraoui for a hot dog.
Simply rude from the French midfielder, fakes a shot and Mazraoui buys every stock that he's selling.
Slides out the way for Tolisso, but he sends his shot into the grateful grasp of Andre Onana.
Still, like the Ronaldo chop, not one Mazraoui is going to go out of his way to watch later on tonight.
63' - A first switch for Ruben Amorim tonight.
He sends out Joshua Zirkzee in the place of Rasmus Hojlund.
Other than a mis-hit shot in the first half, Hojlund had a quiet evening out there tonight.
53' - What a run and what a chance for Lyon!
Georges Mikautadze takes on almost all of Manchester, a great first touch away from Mazraoui and a second from Garnacho, and a decent cross into the area.
With his first touch, Lacazette fires wide.
Still, Mikautadze continues to be a BIG threat down the Lyon left.

However, this time Paul Akouokou cannot carry on, and on comes Alexandre Lacazette.
The French striker spent a long spell at Arsenal, and will be looking to come back to haunt one of the Gunners biggest rivals tonight.
A TALE of two keepers. A clanger from Andre Onana was entirely predictable after the build up to the game. And the Cameroon keeper owes his team-mates a big thank you for the way they responded to going a goal down.
But right on half-time Lucas Perri failed to deal properly with a Bruno Fernandes free-kick and from the rebound Leny Yoro nodded in the equaliser. Could be a huge moment in this tie.
Well, just as we were getting ready to hit send with the title "half-time: Lyon 1-0 Man United," up steps Leny Yoro for United.
In truth, it was a tense half, neither side wanting to show their hand in the first half with three more to come.
United should be ahead, but Andre Onana gifted Lyon their opening goal, after misjudging a free-kick from Thiago Almada.
But, Yoro's flicked header has the score level going into the interval.
It is still all to play for in the second 45 in France.
45+5' - What a time to score for Leny Yoro!
It is his first goal for United, and what a crucial time to get it.
Bruno Fernandes delivers a not so dangerous ball straight to Perri in the Lyon goal, and he in turn punches clear.
Up steps Ugarte, who volleys back into the area very well, and Yoro's flicked header on ends up in the back of the Lyon net.
It's a muted celebration from Yoro, knowing the job is not yet done, and half-time is looming, he retreats from the Lyon half, instead of going all guns blazing into the corner.
45+2' - One to forget for Mazraoui there.
A high ball comes in, looks like he's going to deal with it - but it is in this moment he decides to turn into prime Cristiano Ronaldo, does a Ronaldo chop and loses the ball and concedes a corner.
Luckily for him, it comes to nothing, but not one he'll be watching back later on.
What ever happened to "if in doubt, get it out"?
39' - Lyon medics are back on the pitch here, for the second time in the evening.
A clash of legs between Diogo Dalot and Paul Akouokou leaves the Lyon man in a heap on the floor.
Just a coming together, so no action for Dalot, who is already on a yellow.
Look what the goal means to Thiago Almada.
Lyon are into an early lead in the tie, thanks to his effort (and partially thanks to Onana).
30' - Wouldn’t you just know it? Andre Onana was involved in an incredible war of words on the eve of the game – with the ex United midfielder calling him one of the worst goalkeepers in the club’s history. So you could have scripted that the Cameroon would drop a clanger – and so he did as he allowed Thiaga Almada’s harmless free-kick from the right to squirm past him.
A big blow as United should have been ahead before that with Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund missing good chances.
33' - A bit more confidence shown from Hojlund.
He uses his strength well, and drives further than Lyon should have let him go, far enough to get a shot off.
Unfortunately, his effort is tame, and easy for Perri to save.
However, a good run and shot on target will help his confidence.
30' - Well, if you recall, we said that Diogo Dalot was having a tough time down the right of United's defence.
30-minutes gone, and he's into the book for a foul on Tagliafico.
Not the best start for United.

Andre Onana needed a BIG display here, after the pre-match antics with Nemanja Matic, but the Serbian will be LAUGHING on the bench.
Almada delivers a free-kick, one of those where you don't know if you come for it or not, but he decided not to.
However, he also decided not to prepare for a save, and his attempt to push the ball out is a tame one, with the ball bouncing over the diving Onana and into his net.
