I’M 52 and NEVER giving up my hot pants.
It may come as a shock that they are back in fashion, topping a recent fashion report and being worn by stars on the red carpet.
But this does definitely not surprise me.
I’ve been wearing teeny tiny shorts for decades and don’t plan on stopping any time soon.
Catch me at the gym or out and about in a pair of my favourite denim Daisy Dukes — whatever the weather, they make me feel sexy.
Some people are cautious about getting their pins out but if you’ve got it, why not flaunt it?

But this time, these smalls are skimpier than ever.
After slobbing around in tracksuits for two years during Covid, it makes perfect sense to me that sales of hot pants are up 133 per cent this year.
“But it’s freezing!” I hear you baulk.
Follow the celebs and add an extra layer with sheer tights.
Always avoid wearing them too tight — no one wants to see your camel toe — and don’t get both the “babs” and legs out, even though I’ve done it 500 times over.
But, I’m telling you, it looks cheap.
Every time I do it, I cringe back at myself.
What you wear sometimes is all about confidence, and I feel more confident now than I did in my twenties.
I love parading around in my skimpy shorts, they make me feel free and empowered.
At the end of the day, it’s only like wearing a bikini on the beach.
So let’s celebrate our femininity, let’s celebrate feeling sexy and good about ourselves.
Because the long and short of it is: Hot pants are here to stay.
