Woman shows how she customised a box of Quality Street – but people are up in arms about what they’ve discontinued

SWEET fans have been left angry after realising that Quality Street chocolates are now missing a key element.

The iconic Quality Street tubs have changed in several ways over the years - but according to the big brand behind it, Nestle, the sweets now look slightly different than what they used to.

The change was made last year - however, it's still making people angry months later

According to the major company, Quality Street decided to axe its iconic brightly-coloured wrappers last year, more than eight decades since their release.

In a desperate bid to tackle the climate crisis and become more environmentally-friendly, the family-loved treats are now wrapped in a recycable waxed paper.

Although the move is hoped to stop nearly two billion wrappers from ending up in landfills every year, the more dull design keeps angering several chocolate fans across the UK even a year after the change.

After seeing one woman customise a special box of the iconic sweet treats for her mum, furious social media users wondered where the bright and shiny cellophane packaging had disappeared.

Some were so upset by the move, they even pointed out that the chocolates no longer looked like the iconc sweets they once were - instead, they now resembled a popular hygiene product.

One TikTok user wondered: ''why they look like tampons now, where's the shiny stuff.''

Another chimed in: ''I really hate these wrappers.''

''Why have they changed the wrappers,'' someone else was seeking answers.

However, the move hasn't been criticised by everyone, as some raced to remind others about the ever-growing plastic crisis.

''Would you rather prefer plastic wrappers that will stay here for hundreds of years?'' a viewer pointed out.

If you're not majorly fussed about the new wrappers and want to stock up on the treats in time for Christmas, we advise you to best get racing to your local Farmfoods - where Quality Street is now o sale.

Bargain hunters have noticed that the popular supermarket is selling the beloved chocolate box on reduced price for just £1.99.

However, there is a slight catch - the tubs contain 410grams of chocolate, instead of the usual 600g.

Although the budget-friendly deal is still super cheap compared to other offers we've seen so far, working out at around £3 per 600g.

Rival Aldi, for example, is selling 600g tubs of Quality Street for £3.99 this week, at least 50p cheaper than other high street supermarkets.

The next cheapest supermarket to pick up a 600g box of Quality Street is Asda, which is selling them for £4.50 a tub.

It's worth nothing that the store is running a two for £8 offer as well, but Aldi is still cheaper if you want just one box.

Meanwhile, MorrisonsTesco and B&M are selling them for £5, while Iceland and Sainsbury's are stocking them for £5.50.
