The yob had been refused entry on the bus in Hayes, West London, as he didn't have enough money to pay for his journey.

Mongan, 39, could be seen punching the protective screen and spitting at the driver while calling him names.

He then shouted: "Get off the bus you Muslim b*****d, get out here, you come here, you act the big man, you come here."

The driver yells back: "There are Muslims everywhere. F***ing idiot."

Mongan has now been jailed for ten months after admitting a racially aggravated public order offence and criminal damage.

Sentencing, Judge Ian Comfort described the attack as an "appalling racial and religious abuse over a sustained period of time".

He added: "Your behaviour (occurred) when there was violent disorder in other parts of the country against Muslims and other groups."

Uxbridge Magistrates' Court heard the yob was arrested shortly after the video went viral on social media.

He was on bail at the time of the attack for racially abusing staff at a Ladbrokes branch in Northolt, North West London.

The thug also repeatedly hit windows with a large stick while drunk and later spewed vile race hate towards a police officer.

As well as a jail term, he was also ordered to pay £500 to the bus driver, £200 to the police officer he racially abused and £200 to a staff member at Ladbrokes.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Potter, of the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: "The bus driver who was racially abuse and spat at by Michael Mongan was simply doing his job.

"He and all other staff who work across London's transport network have a right to do so in safety, free from unacceptable threats and intimidation.

"I hope the fast response from our officers sends a clear message that we will act to hold those who behave in this way to account.

"I'm glad Mongan has been swiftly brought to justice and will now face the consequences of his actions."
