EMMERDALE fans have worked out the identity of a major new villain - and she's already in the village.

The ITV soap recently saw the arrival of former Coronation Street actress, Paula Lane.

Paula plays Ella Forster, who befriended Mandy Dingle at a vets gala evening before arriving in the village and landing a job as a receptionist at the doctors surgery.

Already she has made an impact, helping Dawn Taylor get an urgent appointment for her baby after spotting her struggling with breastfeeding in the pub.

While Ella has done nothing but be nice since her arrival, it has actually made some Emmerdale viewers question if there's more to her than meets the eye.

Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one fan wrote: "so what’s Ella’s back story or has that not been decided yet?"

Another added: "This new Ella definitely looks suspicious."

While some think Ella will end up having dark intentions behind her friendly demeanour, others hope she will strike up a romance with her boss, Dr. Liam Cavanagh.

One fan wrote: "so when are liam and ella gonna become a thing? don’t think i’ve shipped an emmerdale couple like this in YEARS."

Another replied: "They had better on screen chemistry than Liam and Wendy tbh x."

A fellow fan added: "Ella and Liam are going to be the next Coira!! I can see it and they look good together already."

Speaking about her character when her role was announced, Paula said: "I'm so excited to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Everyone has been so welcoming and I can't wait to start a new chapter playing the role of Ella.
