This is because hard water contains a large number of dissolved minerals, including chalk, lime, calcium, and magnesium, which then leaves an unsightly white residue on any glass surfaces it touches.

According to experts at Harvey Water Softeners, although hard water is not a health hazard and is typically safe to drink, ''being exposed to hard water over a long amount of time can wreak havoc on both your appliances and your skin, especially if you suffer from skin conditions like eczema''.

But although social media is full of different tips and tricks that promise to tackle the issue, fans of the cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have been raving about a product, which you can bag from Tesco and other retailers.

Fellow cleaning enthusiasts shared their top bargain after one fan of Mrs Hinch, Susan Thackray, took to Facebook to seek advice to make her bathroom sparkle again.

''Any tips for cleaning shower glass, to remove water marks?'' the woman wondered in her post, uploaded on the popular Cleaning tips and tricks page.

Luckily for Susan, the post was soon inundated with responses, as more than 200 people flocked to comments to share their favourite tips.

The answers ranged from vinegar to washing-up liquid - but the most popular reply seemed to be using Viakal Bathroom Limescale Remover Spray.

The product, which sells for £2.99 for a 500ml bottle at Tesco, ''quickly eliminates limescale and hard water marks, together with the dirt and bacteria trapped inside of them''.

According to the brand, the spray can be used on your bathroom and kitchen surfaces, including chrome, ceramics, tiles and shower doors, and will ''remove imperfections'', leaving a ''brilliant shine''.

Not only does the 4.8-star spray remove grim limescale but it also promises to prevent ''it from returning on your surfaces'' again.

The formula cleans toughly but gently, and Viakal is ''safe to use'', as it doesn't contain any ''chlorine, bleach and ammonia''.

The best part? Cleaning fans have claimed there's no vigorous arm workout involved either - ''spray it on and leave it for ten minutes'', one insisted.

The reviews online speak for themselves, as customers have dubbed the product ''amazing''.

One person said: ''What an amazing product. Limescale just disappears and taps sparkle. Highly recommend this product.''

Someone else chimed in: ''I've never placed a cleaning review before, but this product is amazing!

''I'd been using a Bang product before, I always struggled with the smell. But this is amazing at cutting through limescale. Top marks!''

''I bought this for my shower head and taps, I sprayed it on left it for 10 mins gave them a quick wipe and they both were gleaming,'' a third penned.
