Horror as ‘young girl injured’ after falling ‘several metres’ from UK theme park ride when ‘car detached in mid-air’

A CHILD has been seriously injured after falling from a theme park ride.

A children's "ride on car" detached from a ride mid-operation and it fell "several metres" with a five-year-old girl inside on Saturday.

The horror incident unfolded the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza festival in North Wales.

Chris Williams, Director of the Llandudno Community Events CIC, said the incident happened at 10:15am.

"The health and safety executive visited the extravaganza following the incident and permitted the operator of the ride to continue operating.

"However out of respect for the family involved the ride will not operate for the remainder of the event."

He added: "The extravaganza team is in communication with the family and we wish them a speedy recovery."

North Wales Police told The Sun: "Patrol officers at this weekend’s Extravaganza event in Llandudno attended an incident in which a five-year-old girl sustained injuries whilst riding on a fairground attraction.

"The girl’s family sought medical attention for her at a nearby first aid station, and the ride was shut down for the remainder of the Extravaganza.

"Officers have informed Health and Safety Executive officials, who are now leading the investigation into the circumstances of the incident."
