Who are Dragon’s Den contestants Charlene and Simon of Sooper Books?

CHARLENE and Simon's passion for writing children's stories has seen them forge a very successful company called Sooper Books.

They are now trying to boost investment in their company, by appearing on Dragons' Den.

Who are Charlene and Simon of Sooper Books?

Simon and Charlene Mitchell-Hood are the founders of Sooper books.

They are parents to their daughter Goldie, and it was because of her that they started the venture.

We believe every child in this world deserves to discover the infinite joy of stories, whether reading or listening to them.

Speaking about applying to be on Dragons' Den, Simon told his Sooper Books website: "Originally, we were too scared to apply.

"I made up a long list of not-really-justifiable excuses, like ‘oh no, that doesn’t fit with our business model’, ’what will our investors say?’, ‘we’ll never get on the show’ and so on.

"Charlene just flatly refused on the basis that she was too terrified.

"And, truth be told, so was I - but, then I did something a little naughty.

"I applied for the show without telling Charlene... and months went by and we got a call from a producer. and we went down to the studio "

Wh.t is Sooper Books bedtime stories?

Sooper books is a book streaming company that offers a stories and audiobooks, either for free or for a subscription.

Explaining why they started the service, Charlene and Simon said on their website: "Because we believe every child in this world deserves to discover the infinite joy of stories, whether reading or listening to them.

"Stories that help them see the world differently, burst open their imaginations and fire up a love of reading that lasts forever."

When will Sooper Books be on Dragons Den?

Charlie and Simon will be on Dragons' Den on February 1, 2024, with the show airing from 8pm on BBC One.

Viewers will watch them pitch his company to the famous Dragons - Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies, and Steven Bartlett.

They will be joined by a whole host of other business owners and inventors, including Patrick McKeown.
