Rob Cross believes he needs a FIRE EXTINGUISHER to put out red-hot Luke Littler.

The 2018 world champion has been given the nightmare draw of facing the 17-year-old in the World Grand Prix on tonight.

Cross said: “The boy has been amazing for the game. He’s a really good lad and we’ve practiced a lot this year in the Premier League.

“You just know that he can turn it up a notch at any stage during a game.

“Sometimes he almost lulls you into a false sense of security and then BAM, he hits you with a nine-darter or 170 finish.

“When he decides to turn up the heat you need a fire extinguisher to put him out!

The World Grand Prix gets underway TONIGHT - with some of the biggest names in darts featuring in Leicester.

Last year, Luke Humphries claimed his first major TV title after coming from behind to beat Gerwyn Price 5-2 in the final.

Since then, Cool Hand has claimed even more accolades, most notably becoming world champion in January.

This week, Humphries will be aiming to join Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen in becoming the third player to retain the prestigious crown.

But teenage sensation Luke Littler will be hoping to stop the World No1 as he makes his World Grand Prix debut this month.

The 17-year-old has gone from strength to strength since losing to Humphries in the World Championship final in January.

Littler has won nine tournaments this year, with his biggest triumphs coming in the World Series Finals and the Premier League.

However, The Nuke will have to navigate through a new format if he is to take this one home.
