At the end of Friday's show Rylan, 35, told viewers that Christine Lampard will make her show comeback.

Christine, 44, anchors on Loose Women and often fills in for Lorraine Kelly when she takes a break from her show.

She last presented This Morning in 2016 alongside Phillip Schofield, who was axed from ITV earlier this year after confessing to an "unwise but not illegal affair with a younger male colleague".

After Holly Willoughby shocked fans by stepping down from the show in October, Christine was among the names heavily rumoured to be replacing her.

A senior TV source said: “Christine is popular with viewers and was a huge success when she covered Holly’s maternity leave.

“She’s an ITV talent and very well liked by executives as she’s so hard-working and friendly.

“She’s an absolute pro when it comes to interviewing and is comfortable with everyone, from politicians to pop stars and takes live TV in her stride.

“Christine is really happy with her current set-up, working across several different shows, but is always open to new opportunities.”
