Man Utd vs Ipswich LIVE SCORE: Philogene on the double to LEVEL it over 10-man United after Dorgu RED – updates

  • Man Utd 3-2 Ipswich

    52. Bryan Robson, Steve Bruce and Dennis Irwin are in the crowd at Old Trafford tonight. How Manchester United fans would like to have that trio in their current team.

And I don't even mean as they were in their playing days.

  • Man Utd 3-2 Ipswich

    50. Ipswich try to rally, and quickly win a corner of their own.

Unfortunately for the Tractor Boys, they don't possess someone with the dead ball capabilities of Bruno Fernandes and it comes to nothing.

  • Man Utd 3-2 Ipswich

    47. Harry Maguire's first Premier League goal of the season - and it's such a simple one that will have Kieran McKenna absolutely furious.

For the third time tonight, it's a Bruno Fernandes set-piece delivery that does the damage, but the way that the 11-men of Ipswich allow Maguire an unchallenged run and free header verges on criminal.

A clean connection down and into the ground gives Alex Palmer no chance and bounces into the net.

Down to ten men they may be, but United are back in charge of this one.

  • United back in front!

  • Kick-off - Man Utd 2-2 Ipswich

    46. The game is back underway, and there are no further changes in personnel but Ruben Amorim has tinkered.

The United boss has moved Diogo Dalot over to the left with substitute Mazraoui on the right.

What must Ruben Amorim be thinking? Surely the most calamitous half of this shocking season for United.

Patrick Dorgu gifted Jaden Philogene an early goal only for United to hit back to lead thanks to a Sam Morsy own goal and Matthijs De Ligt’s scrambled effort.

But this team cannot do anything the easy way.  Dorgu was sent off for a horror tackle on Omar Hutchinson and then Philogene’s cross evaded everyone – including Onana – to level it.  Game very much on.

  • Half-time - Man Utd 2-2 Ipswich

Four goals. Defensive disasters. A red card and VAR intervention. And all in the pouring rain.

Manchester United and Ipswich Town are locked together at two-apiece. Expect more high comedy and drama in the second half.

  • Man Utd 2-2 Ipswich

45+4. Frustrations and tempers are running high now.

Hojlund catches O'Shea with a high arm and the Ipswich defender throws himself to the ground.

The challenge and the reaction prompts angry reactions, and in the end Darren England decides to book them both.

  • Man Utd 2-2 Ipswich

    45+2. It's all square!

It's another goal for Jaden Philogene, and another mishap for Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The winger hadn't scored a Premier League goal before tonight, but will now start the second half on a hat-trick.

Cutting inside from the right flank, the former Aston Villa whips over a low inswinger that evades everyone included intended target Liam Delap - and then Onana.

It creeps inside the far post, and for the second time this evening the travelling Ipswich fans explode with delight.

  • Philogene at the double!

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    45. On the brink of half-time, Ipswich have a spring in their step with the extra man.

There will be four minutes of additional time to be played, but Rube Amorim is not hanging around.

He's taken off Alejandro Garnacho, and brought on a left-back in Noussair Mazraoui.

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    43. Patrick Dorgu is sent off!

And, to be honest, it was never in doubt once replays showed the side-on view.

It's a horrible challenge by the young Dane. Accidental, yes, but horrible nonetheless.

In his eagerness to get to the ball, he oversteps with his lunge and catches Omari Hutchinson high on the shin with his studs.

Darren England is summoned to the pitchside monitor, and it doesn't take him long to make his mind up on what we've all seen.

The referee returns to the pitch, talks a resigned Dorgu through his decision, and then issues the red card.

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    40. Dorgu catches Hutchinson with a lunge on the far touchline, and leaves the Ipswich man in a heap.

The referee is told to delay the restart while VAR take another look at the incident.

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    37. Now Garnacho tries his luck with an effort that's blocked.

The Argentine is seeing plenty of the ball tonight.

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    35. Fine stop from Alex Palmer!

The Ipswich keeper gets down quickly to deny Patrick Dorgu's crisp effort from just inside the box following a trademark run (and flop) from Alejandro Garnacho.

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    33. Sam Morsy's evening goes from bad to worse.

The combative Ipswich captain now has a booking as well as an own goal to his name after taking down Joshua Zirkzee.

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    31. After such a promising start, Ipswich have retreated into their shell since scoring.

They're in danger of allowing United to play themselves into form if this continues.

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    29. I'm not saying he's a flat track bully, but Matthijs de Ligt's two goals this season have come against Southampton and Ipswich.

    Football's Graeme Hick.

  • Man Utd 2-1 Ipswich

    26. Manchester United are singing in the rain now.

The second goal arrives from another Bruno Fernandes set-piece, this time from a corner on the left.

The captain's deep inswinger is met by Harry Maguire, whose header is pushed out by Alex Palmer.

Diogo Dalot reacts quickest with a follow-up shot on the slide, and that too is blocked by the Ipswich goalkeeper.

But it squeezes out along the line, and Matthijs de Ligt promptly fires into the roof of the net from close range.

  • Quick turnaround!

  • Man Utd 1-1 Ipswich

    24. That own-goal was Manchester United's first non-penalty goal in the first half of a Premier League game since December the 7th against Nottingham Forest.

  • Man Utd 1-1 Ipswich

    22. Manchester United are back on level terms, and once again it's the dead ball prowess of Bruno Fernandes that has got them back into this one.

Alejandro Garnacho won a free-kick off Jens Cajuste on the left, and that was the cue for the captain to take a charge.

A wicked right-footed delivery sent the ball whizzing into the box and - under pressure from Leny Yoro - all Sam Morsy could do was head it beyond Alex Palmer and into his own goal from close range.

One captain assists another, and Old Trafford breathes a collective sigh of relief.

  • Levelled up!

  • Man Utd 0-1 Ipswich

    19. United are taking it up a notch now.
