One-of-a-kind Bentley from the 80s that was revamped for Top Gear star with full race interior to sell at auction

A UNIQUE Bentley raced by Top Gear's Matt LeBlanc is set to go under the hammer in the UK.

The 1988 Turbo R was never designed for racing - but it was given a serious makeover for the show.

With its Racing Green paint and white roundels, the Bentley looks the part of a track-ready machine.

The car was outfitted with lowered suspension, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, a race seat, a harness, a full roll cage, and even a fire extinguisher system.

Matt LeBlanc, alongside Chris Harris and Rory Reid, took it for a spin at the Birkett Six Hour Relay at Silverstone.

However, things didn't quite go according to plan.

The Bentley faced mechanical issues that required a full engine overhaul, and the trio ended up finishing 69th out of 70.

In fact, LeBlanc revealed that it needed a complete overhaul: “New block, new crank, new pistons, new con-rods, new valves, new cams, new water pump, new oil pump—basically everything was replaced.”

The Turbo R has since covered almost 108,000 miles and changed hands 13 times, with its most recent owner certainly not enjoying the luck they’d hoped for.

Now, it's being offered for auction with no reserve.

With no guide price, it's unclear how much the motor will sell for.

Bidding starts on March 14 and will run for a week, offering the chance to own a unique piece of Top Gear history.
